What Is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese practice that involves the gentle laying on of hands, or hands held just above the body, with the intention of supporting relaxation and wellbeing.

The word Reiki is commonly translated as universal life energy. Reiki is understood by practitioners as a way of working with this energy through a gentle, mindful practice.

Reiki is not a religion, and no particular belief system is required to receive or practise it.

What Happens During a Reiki Session?

During a session, you remain fully clothed and lie comfortably on a treatment table. The practitioner places their hands gently on or just above different areas of the body, depending on your comfort and preferences.

Some people experience warmth, gentle sensations or a deep sense of relaxation. Others notice very little during the session. Experiences vary from person to person.

Reiki sessions offer dedicated time to pause, relax and focus on your wellbeing.

Can Anyone Learn Reiki?

Yes. Reiki can be learned by people of different ages and backgrounds. Training begins with learning to practise Reiki on yourself before progressing to sharing Reiki with others.

Many people begin Reiki as a personal practice, while others choose to continue their training and become professional practitioners.

Reiki and Wellbeing

Reiki is used by many people as a complementary wellbeing practice. Some find it helps them relax and take time out from the demands of daily life.

Reiki should not replace medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. If you have health concerns, consult an appropriately qualified health professional.

Many people report feeling deeply rested following a Reiki session

As part of her philosophy of personal growth and self-empowerment, Caterina feels that it is important for Reiki recipients to know that they are participating in their own healing and that, as a Reiki practitioner, she is just an aid to assist.  The person plays an active role in their own wellbeing and personal growth.
