Reiki

Whilst living in Scotland, I was introduced to the loving life-energy of Reiki.  I then discovered Lendrick Lodge, a holistic and spiritual retreat centre in the heart of the Scottish Trossachs where I trained in Reiki 1 & 2 with Victoria Mulhearn. Since returning to NZ, I have continued my wonderful Reiki journey to Reiki 3A, Master Practitioner, with Sarah Deeks. I am a member of Reiki NZ and New Zealand Holistic Health.

As a Reiki practitioner who is passionate about Reiki, I feel honoured to use its loving life-energy.  I work from a Reiki clinic set up in my home in Hillcrest, Hamilton.

As part of my philosophy of personal growth and self empowerment, I feel that it is important for Reiki recipients to know that they are participating in their own healing and that I, as a Reiki practitioner, am just an aid to assist. The person has to be willing to heal.

Reiki is very simple, yet very powerful. It may be interpreted as the spiritual channelling of loving life-energy through gentle touch. As recipients relax, their own energy can flow in a more natural, self-healing way. During a Reiki treatment, recipients enter a very deep state of relaxation. A one hour Reiki treatment is the physiological equivalent of 3-4 hours sleep. This makes it one of the most advanced natural stress reduction therapies available.

Reiki is an extremely high vibration energy which promotes the healing process on all levels – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

What happens during a Reiki session?

The process of Reiki takes place within a quiet atmosphere. The recipient is fully clothed and lies on a therapy table, (or sits in a chair if preferred) with a blanket, pillows and quiet background music.  During a treatment, the hands of the Reiki practitioner are gently placed on or just off the client.  The practitioner is just a channel for the life force energy as the energy flows through them to the recipient.

During the treatment, many people notice a feeling of warmth, peace and very deep relaxation. There can be a ‘letting go’ of tension, and pain seems to be relieved. Often the outcome of a session is a profound feeling of well-being and integration.

While there are no claims for curing illness, many illnesses seem to be reduced as a result of people undergoing this process.

A Reiki treatment lasts for approximately one hour and may be given as often as the client requires.
